According to the state chief's communiqué, the parliamentary commission has decided to open tenders for selecting the types of planes needed for the country's air force.

In May 2015, the Bulgarian Parliament's Defence Commission approved the plan to modernise the armed forces, among other things, with the purchase of new fighter planes. Now this tender has to be repeated.
Bulgaria's Parliament has approved sharing $1.4 billion for the purchase of new fighter planes that will replace MiG-29. It was then said that it was decided to buy Swedish Jas 39 Grepen C/D planes. Now this proposal will be considered again.
