Coming two years ago as an expert OPDAT and adviser to the unit “Task Force” in the North Crimes Prosecutor, Albanian-American prosecutor John Juncaj, said Albanian justice has been left to drop very low. “I've never seen so many people are innocent victims left defenseless from the justice system than here in Albania. I'm especially ashamed because there's no honesty in the justice system because it's allowed to fall far below”, said Juncaj.
Two years in Albania, it was enough for Albanian-American prosecutor John Juncaj to create an idea of how the justice system works.
Came as an expert OPDAT in the summer of 2015, Juncaj, a prosecutor with over 15 years of experience in the US, has spoken out of the situation where Albanian justice is. Outside the prosecutor's costume, but with enough knowledge of the functioning of justice, Juncaj said: Albania's justice system has been let down too much, but we have to get together to get out.
As one of the speakers at the “Team Ex” event, which takes place in more than 178 cities in 70 countries of the world, Juncaj spoke not only of justice, but also of the hope of re-instruction, if all are together.
“I am especially ashamed because there is no honesty in the justice system because it is allowed to fall well below”, " said the Albanian-American prosecutor, who has been assisting the Task Force against corruption sector in the Randa Crime Prosecutor.
He began his speech with childhood memories and Mother's orders.
My mother was obsessed with justice. She said that, if you do something wrong, you'll have problems”, Juncaj said.
But justice according to him found no place in Albania, where the American prosecutor says he has never seen so many people vulnerable to the justice system.
I've never seen so many innocent victims left vulnerable from the justice system than here in Albania. I'm especially ashamed because there's no honesty in the justice system because it's allowed to fall very low”, said Juncaj in his speech.
However, the American Embassy's legal adviser, who has been directly committed to the Justice Reform, says there is hope but that in this difficult battle we should all be together.
But I have a feeling I want to share with you, that's hope. We can't make it unless you're all together. You have to understand one thing. You have a voice. You're a lot, and they're few. The time has come to build a place for you to be proud of”, the American prosecutor said.
Juris Juncaj, whose family is originally from Great Malesia, expresses concern about the departure of Albanians from their homeland.
He spoke of education and health, saying he feels ashamed of the ungodly people who have caused pain in Albanians.
My first version is Albanian, we talk at home. Many young people are abandoning their homes to find other options. I want to be honest with you. I'm ashamed of people who have caused pain for people in certain sectors, both in health care and in education. People need to be educated, no matter who they are,”, Juncaj said outside the prosecutor's profile and legal advisers.
Juncaj was one of 10 event speakers who conveyed inspiring ideas and messages to the public, confessing from a story of their own.
The Ted Ex events are held in more than 178 cities in 70 countries around the world, and Tirana is one of them.
John Juncaj, federal prosecutor with a long experience, came to Albania two years ago as mission expert O PAT and adviser in the “Task Force” unit at the Public Crimes Prosecutor.
John Juncaj has a long experience in the American Department of Justice, focused on investigating the corruption of officials and money laundering, two of the criminal acts currently investigated by the anticorruption unit in the Prosecutor's Prosecutorial Crime.
Juncaj is an Albanian-American from Michigan.
He has served near the Department of Justice in the United States for nearly 15 years and has held different positions in the department's offices since 2001.
He studied political and justice science at two American universities and represented the US in court cases mainly on money laundering or fraud with health insurance schemes.
For more than five years, he worked as an assistant to Michigan Federal Prosecutor.
Juncaj is part of the Albanian-American community and part of the successful persons in this community.
After his arrival in Albania, the Attorney General said that near the Task Force unit at the North Crimes Prosecutor's Prosecution has been attacked full time and an O mission expert PAT, which will provide its expertise in the area of money laundering.
The US prosecutor's arrival near this prosecutor coincided with the restructuring of the sector “Task Force”, where trained US prosecutors were first commanded and specialised in fighting corruption and money laundering.
But their command in this facility did not last more than four months, at which time a judge and two corruption prosecutors were arrested, and about 400 corruption investigations were launched at high levels and money laundering.
At the time, US Ambassador to Tirana Donald Lu said Albanian police would join another FBI expert who would assist in the creation of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
A federal prosecutor is assisting the Anti-Corruption Crime Prosecutor's Unit. An FBI agent is expected to come next week to work with the Albanian police, while American experts are assisting in drafting the Bureau for Investigation” law, the American ambassador said.
Two years later, the Albanian-American prosecutor and FBI agent seem to have a clear sense of how justice works in Albania and therefore, the solution that will be offered will be more direct. /Mapo
