The first session of Albania's 9th Parliament legislature has started.
This session was conducted by Socialist MP Besnik Baraj, who after Sali Berisha's refusal, Tritan Shehu and Gramoz Ruci, who are expected to be elected chairman of the Parliament, results in being the oldest deputy in this legislature.
After reading the names of the 140 elected deputies, Baraj announced the establishment of the mandate verification commission, headed by Socialist MP Vasilika Hysi, which will start verifications to reassemble parliament at 18:00, where the new speaker of Parliament, Gramoz Ruci, is expected to be voted in.
At the end of the session, Democratic Party Chairman Lulzim Basha, who returns after a nearly 7-year absence in Parliament, demanded word for the procedure, but this was rejected.
