Edi Rama, for some time he has stopped traveling without taking his paintings. This has happened on the last 9 days trip to New York, where the main purpose of his visit was to attend the annual UN session.
Beyond the fact that Edi Rama's official stand at the UN was a spectacular failure, and culminated in only a meeting with Turkey's president, Rexhep Tayyip Erdogan and a common picture of Donald Trump, it seems that his visit has also marked an incident.
Sources for Eye.net suggest that Eddie Rama's main host in New York, Albanian banker Richard Lukaj (also known as a member of the ABI Bank board in Albania), was committed to enabling an exhibition of Edi Rama's paintings at the “gallery. G R Art Gallery”, which is owned by another prominent Albanian painter, George Paul.
But while reported in principle that the artist of origin from Shkodra, George Paul, has agreed to open an exhibition of pictures of an Albanian artist, the last moment he learned it was Eddie Rama, he has flatly refused. He has justified that during this period, the exhibition space was reserved for another artist.
But anyway, on the night of dinner between banker Richard Lukaj and Edi Rama, the prime minister was scheduled to attend a ceremony organised at the GR Art Gallery, where many Albanians living in New York were invited. But it seems that the gallery's owner, George Paul, had refused to reveal his paintings, Edi Rama has recently refused his participation at the reception ceremony that was organised at GR Art Gallery, and has preferred that instead of meeting with dozens of Albanians waiting in the gallery, to dine with banker Richard Lukey and his family.
The fact that he had an agenda to be present at the GR Art Gallery has been confirmed by banker Richard Lukaj himself in his Facebook post when he writes: “I regret that we had to review the agenda of hosting this afternoon at GR Art Gallery, due to the conflict on the agenda, but we hope to have the opportunity to schedule another meeting as soon as possible. Special thanks to Rosafa and George Paul for their efforts”.
