Yesterday's rain in Pristina did not cause material damage

The violent rain that swept through the city of Pristina yesterday has not caused material damage to residents of the capital, except for some wells and difficulties in traffic. Pristina municipality Inspection Director Sali Zyba for Kosova Prees has said that eight calls from citizens [...] have been recorded at the telephone call centre.

The director of the Pristina municipality's Inspection, Sali Zyba for Kosova Prees, has said that eight calls from citizens of the capital have been recorded at the telephone centre, and that there have been largely closed wells, acumation of water quantity and difficulties in communications.

“After yesterday's influx of considerable amount of resources yesterday we've received some civic calls, but none of this is a concern for citizens, there are 8 phone calls mainly at the call centres that have come in, are registered mainly for closing the wells, for acument or concentration of water and for difficulties in traffic in some cases, otherwise it's not registered by citizens, nor by officials from other police or organs that have any damage to property, whatever the other <1x> he said.

According to Zyba, the most affected parts of yesterday's rainfall has been the center of the city, some roads that have access to other roads, and outdated infrastructure has contributed to flood of roads from the water.

Otherwise, he has said that all calls of citizens have been answered by the Inspection Directorate, and all companies contracted for such services have also been at the scene.

Sali Zyba for Kosovo Pristina's municipality has said there is no special fund for compensation in case of natural disasters.

“There is no particular fund for compensation, but citizens' concerns about without other options are always bound to have no concerns, but in the case, there are no reports of material damage, either of playable, non-playable property damages”, Zyba added.

According to the deputy commander of this fire brigade, Malke Gashi, yesterday they had no information to help them deal with the water flow, and that the situation was normal.

About yesterday's capital flood, the Asamblist of PDK in the municipality of Pristina, Muhamet Selmani, has blamed Pristina chairman Shpend Ahmeti for mismanaging the separate means for capital investments, considering it also as neglect by the Pristina Community.

“I want to believe that this is the neglect of the Pristina municipality, mainly the mayor's, because the directors are his elected and legal responsibility falls on the chairman for not intervention, we as we know have made a presentation a few days ago that Pristina municipality has had enough means planned for capital investments, but those means are not being spent as a result of poor governance and poor budget management by these directors. As a result of this, we also have floods of every time after every downpour of rain that would be as small as that”, he said.

He said further that the Pristina municipality, wanting to blame this problem for the past governance of Isa Mustaf, has only shown the inability to manage the Pristina municipality.

Unlike yesterday around five o'clock, there have been heavy rainfall accompanied by hail, which has caused trouble in the streets and squares of Pristina.
