Thursday's meeting in Brussels between Kosovo President Hashim Thaci and Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq, with the mediation of EU representative Federica Moghrini, has ended with agreement on unblocking the Justice Agreement. The acting minister for dialogue, Edita Tahiri, has clarified for “Indeskline” That this agreement had been reached since 2013, but was later blocked by Serbia.
The meeting of presidents of both states in Brussels today, with the mediation of Mrs. Moghrin, I think it was important because, among other things, as far as it was understood by the European Union communiqué, is under way that Serbia is willing to unblock the justice agreement. This agreement was reached in 2013, then an additional agreement was made in 2015, and in November 2016 we had the last implementation agreement. Serbia had since blocked implementation by failing to cut off labour contracts and salaries for these Serbian judges and prosecutors who will be integrated into the institutions of justice of the Republic of Kosovo”, it has clarified.
Tahiri has indicated that implementation of the Justice Agreement must be implemented by 17 October. While, on the same day, it is expected that the president of the Republic of Kosovo will make the decree of Serbian judges and prosecutors.
“As agreed in Brussels, implementation must be completed on 17 October meaning that that day the president of the Republic of Kosovo will make the decree of these judges and prosecutors who have already passed the interview process on the Kosovo State Panel. This news today shows that Serbia is likely ready to unblock the agreement, and in the coming days we will see the implementation processes”, she has said.
The last meeting between Thaci and Vucinqi was held in July, where the two presidents were hired for a new phase of dialogue between the two countries. /Indesksonline
