Publicist Nexmedin Spahiu yesterday in an interview said it was he who proposed to the American diplomats, now to the late Bajram Rexhepi, for Kosovo prime minister in 2001.
But due to several people's doses of scepticism, he has today shared other details from the moment he says he had gone to the House of Health in Mitrovica, where Rexhepi cared for as a doctor, to give him the news that he will be prime minister, Periscop writes.
He says Rexhepi initially thought he was joking with him, even though this issue was already over, and that Ibrahim Rugova at the time had admitted Rexhepi to prime minister.
Read Spahiu's complete comment:
After my interview with Bajram Rexhepi yesterday, where I showed that, long before the 2001 elections, I proposed to US and other diplomat Bajram Rexhepi for the prime minister with the reasoning that in this period Kosovo needs to relax the reports between the political sides, and Bajrami as chairman of Mitrovica, even though in the city where these reports are more severe, contributed not to any political murder, and when some that yesterday's interview had been read to them, I mentioned with two members of RTV's staff. MITOVICES: Alban Zenel and another one, we went to the Shendes House in Mitrovice to announce that he was going to be Kosovo's chief manager (what Bajrami thought we were having a joke, and in fact, I had the same night as one of the diplomas I had proposed to the Prime Minister to report that Rugova has accepted the proposal and has now remained talking to Thaci, that was enough for me to be sure that my proposal will be fulfilled, and that tomorrow, I said, in Mitrovica's TV.
(but the public didn't take this seriously, because I didn't give details) and today many asked me this question: After 17 years ago you had as much power in the country as your proposal for prime minister, why didn't he ever become the chief manager? The answer is there was no one to propose to me. It's not actually that I wasn't even proposed to the Prime Minister for president, but none of those who have proposed to me have known to find good reasons as I reasoned for Bajram Rexhepi.
