Acting Foreign Affairs Minister Emmanuel Demaj has given reasons for not applying to this organisation.
According to him, the obstacle has been internal issues, precisely not adopting his two laws on Religious Freedoms, as well as the Law on Cultural Heritage.
Demaj has dismissed claims that support has been missing from member states. Kosovo's top diplomat even says Serbia had nothing to do with not applying.
Kosovo has not applied to U NESTO more. We are awaiting the adoption of two laws on Religious Freedoms and the Law on Religious Heritage that have not yet been passed. We're working, we're looking at all options and options, I believe we have only a few more time to apply and we'll see how things are going to run, said the chief of Kosovo diplomacy.
No constitutionalisation of the Assembly according to Demaj will be unable to pass these two laws, at the same time not applying for this year.
In the absence of three votes, Kosovo failed to join the UN's largest organisation. NESTO, in November 2015, the process which prevented Serbia. Assembly session 21 NESCO will meet in November in Paris. And for Kosovo's admission, it needs two-thirds of the 195 member states' votes.
Kosovo has applied for membership in another organisation in INTERPOL. But although it was said that sufficient votes have been provided to become a member of this security organisation, the minister in office says these reports are not very hopeful.
There will be difficulties that will be very true, because there are many states that remain pending do not provide an answer. We will have a meeting this week with the prime minister, and the president has been notified and remains to see all reports that have come.
Reports are not very hopeful that Kosovo will membership, but these reports will also guide us on how to continue. We know that things can change in the last few moments, Kosovo in this situation that is going to be difficult that institutions are still not created, and the unconstitutiond assembly even though we are trying to do the job the best. It's gonna be all around this week. INTERPOL”, the acting minister of foreign affairs said.
