The double Olympic champion in Judo, Peter Seisenbacher, from Austria, was arrested yesterday in Kiev, Ukraine, over charges of sexual assault. Shortly after the arrest, a court in Austria has demanded that Seisenbacher be extradited.
Seisenbacher, 57, was not presented at the start of his trial in court on December 19th last year, charged with sexual assault on two young girls when he was their coach several years ago.
Prosecutors said the case had occurred in Vienna in the period 1999-04.
The women had charged him in 2013.
If convicted, he could be sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Austria, Peter Seisenbacher, in 1988 in Seoul, South Korea, became the first jungle to win two successive gold medals at the Olympic Games after winning the Los Angeles games in 1984. / REL
