How can MPs lose salaries and non-profits? Experts Show

On August 3rd, they have sworn they will carry out their duty as deputies, dignifiedly representing the people, working for the interests of Kosovo as well as committed to the protection and respect of the Kosovo constitution. But the same for the fifth time in a row has failed to conduct the assembly. Until, [...]

While the MPs fail to make the assembly's constitutionalisation, and at the same time are paid and receive other contributions from Kosovo's budget, the people demand that such a thing not continue.

The non-government organisation “PolitFite” supported by many other civil society participants have initiated an online petition through which MPs request that salaries and other non-reformations be removed as long as the country's institutions are not formed.

Through this petition, it is also required by the district administration and the Ministry of Finance not to pay the deputies of the Kosovo Assembly until the relevant institutions have been established.

The petition for banning MPs' salaries was supported by several MPs, while connoisseurs of economic and judicial issues, have indicated that this issue would initially have to be regulated by regulations and MPs will start paying off after the assembly's constitutionalisation.

They claim that morally MPs should not receive salaries because they have not performed even initial duties.

Economics expert as well as former MP Muhamet Mustafa, speaking about the petition for stopping MPs' salaries, has indicated that logically he would not have to be paid a unfinished job.

Mustafa, has confirmed that perhaps the regulation would have to be changed so that MPs can start getting paid after the assembly's establishment.

According to Mustafa, only MPs boycotting the hearings should not be denied salaries, but all because they bear responsibility for not constitutionalising the assembly.

This is a matter that should be regulated by regulations. Logically, they should not be paid unworked, but on the other hand, they are officially in a session that does not bear fruit at work. Under the regulation, MPs take on the obligation of positions when they pledge. However, this would probably have to be changed after the Parliament was introduced. I don't believe that here MPs can be divided according to parties, which bear responsibility for failing to make the constitution”, has stressed Mustafa for “Bota today”.
