“Kosovo is undergoing major losses”

The current situation in Kosovo has also commented on the renowned Bulgarian albanologist and politician Anton Panchev, under which procrastinating the formation of institutions is costing the country too much. Panchev in an interview for Kosovo Press has indicated that politics in Kosovo does not differ much from that of other Balkan countries, as they all have common phenomena.

In our states here in the Balkans, there are many common phenomena. Political processes have many similarities and suffer from the same diseases. It's a problem that Kosovo several months after early elections has not yet created institutions, the Assembly still doesn't work, you don't have the new government... With the revocation of the work of institutions, Kosovo suffers losses both in regional policy and in European and Euro-Atlantic integrations, but also in the area of the economy. Important projects in the field of infrastructure, in the field of budget, and so forth --”, he said.

Asked how he sees Kosovo in the future, as a state that needs to be strengthened or united with Albania, Panchev says he supports uniting Albanians in a single state, but is not optimistic that this could happen in the near future.

Kosovo's “People have taken many steps ahead in the last decade, especially after declaring independence. Will they join Albania, of course, Albanians should decide for themselves, but in the geopolitical reality, there are always many external obstacles, so such a thing in the years to come may not happen, but I understand this dream of Kosovo Albanians, of other Albanian lands in the Balkans very well. For us Bulgarians, this is no problem, but the state of Kosovo must be reinforced... It is very necessary for Kosovo citizens to be a stable state, a well-developed state with more opportunities for young people to remain in their country”, he said.

As a good connoisseur of political circumstances and history, he has also spoken of Kosovo-Bulgarian interstate relations, which he values as good, but adds that more needs to be worked on developing economic and cultural relations, as two peoples lack sufficient knowledge of each other.

“Between Albanians and Bulgarians actually has good relations throughout history... Bulgaria has supported Kosovo in the international field since its liberation, then for Kosovo's membership in various regional and global organisations. ...We have to work harder to develop economic relations, cultural relations, relations between education and science institutions because very little is known in Bulgaria for the Kosovo Albanians, and perhaps even in Kosovo, they don't know much about the Bulgarians, about the developments and achievements of our states”, Panchev says.

And to change this situation, Panchev says that many books serve, respectively, their translations.

He values both the bridge between the two peoples and the now unbroken Bulgarian-language book “extremist Serbian organisations in Kosovo” of the author Fetnet Ramosaj, which he says will help the Bulgarian people recognise the Albanian history.

The Religion Ramos Book has very great scientific merits... In the first place, Fetnet Ramos is a punctual author who has used a lot of resources to write this book, and this book will help the Bulgarian public know more about developments in Kosovo, not only in the near past 18 years ago, but also for today's state of Kosovo, so I think this paper will help us understand important things about the history of Albanians here in Kosovo, but also in the region, about important processes in the area of security and politics in the Balkans<1> he said.

He has also shown a brief history of Albanian villages in Bulgaria, of which he says only one of them survived, since others, as he said, destroyed the Ottoman army in 1913. He has praised young people of the single Albanian village, Mandrica, in Bulgaria, after forming an association to preserve Albanian language and culture there.

There is only one Mandrica village left in Bulgaria, very close to the border with Greece and Turkey. There life on the mountain is heavy, and almost as in all Bulgarian state, young people have gone west. . In this village, there are 2050 people who use Mandrica's Albanian speech in their lives. This speech is of great importance to his dialects of Albanian, for the study of Albanian-language history”, the albanologist said.

Albanologist Anton Panchev is the translator of four books of Albanian authors in Bulgarian and more than 20 different scientific works.
