European interests should always be taken into account when it comes to enabling new US sanctions, Juncker said in an interview for German TV ARD.

“We must protect our economic interests even against U.S.A., if that's the word. And that's what we'll do”, Juncker said.

“We are ready”, he added, stressing that the EU reserve the right to take punitive measures if its interests are violated.

It also drew attention to the fact that the new US signed law could have unpredictable “ ” for the EU in the field of energy security.
