Briggite Macro will no longer be France's First Lady

Brigitte Macron will not enjoy the status of <x0mie Dame” and the privileges derived from him.

French television BFMTV, which quotes sources near the Elyze Palace, suggests that in the coming days the so-called “transparency card” will be published to clarify Brigitte's role.

The document in question will also disclose the names of its associates, the media source follows.

Meanwhile, the petition against the first lady's status for the president's wife, launched almost two weeks ago, exceeded the quota of 200 thousand firms.

The initiative, which holds the firm Thierry Paul Vallette, chairman of the National Equality Association, aims to prevent the creation of a “ad hoc” statute to formalise the role of the first lady, for which a budget and a broad staff are forecast.

There is no reason why the head of state's wife should be equipped with a budget from the public funds”, says the petition text, underlining that the issue should undergo a referendum.

During the election campaign, Macro had announced that in case of victory, his wife would cover a public post without profiting any reward.

However, the petition comes at a time when approval is being discussed in Parliament or not of the law on the morality of public life, where among the envisioned measures is also preventing MPs from hiring their families.
