Bombing a mosque while believers were praying, 30 dead

An explosion at a mosque in the Afghan town of Herat has killed about 30 people and injured dozens more.

The explosion, which hit the Jawadia mosque, occurred as believers were holding evening prayers around 8:00.

Officials said there were at least two attackers, one kamikaze and another who shot at believers with hail of weapons.

A local governor spokesman said the death toll could rise.
He said at least 29 people were killed and 64 others were injured.

The governor's representative said kamikazi opened fire inside the mosque before the explosives broke out.
