Countries requiring the reopening of their embassies in Damascus or co-operating with the Syrian regime must sever any ties with the rebels, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad confirmed today.

“There will be no security co-operation, no opening of embassies, no role for some states that say they want to seek a way out for the war in Syria, as long as they do not sever their ties with terrorism”, Assad confirmed in a speech to members of the diplomatic body, broadcast by state television.

Damascus uses the term “terrorism” to refer to both rebels and jihadists.

“We are not isolated as they think, it is their arrogance that moves them to think so”, he added, follows Atsh.

The US and most European countries have closed their embassies in Damascus following the bloody crackdown in 2011 on anti-re Listening manifestions that were transformed into a civil war that has caused more than 330,000 deaths in six years.
