Five Serbian police officers charged with burning US Embassy in Belgrade

The prosecutor's office in Belgrade has pressed charges against five police officials because of the release of security during and after holding the Serbian rally against Kosovo in 2008, with dozens of protesters setting the US Embassy on fire in Belgrade, Serbian media broadcast. They are accused of serious criminal acts because of misuse of official duty and general security.
The Serbian court and prosecution have not yet revealed the names of the accused. Investigations into police concessions during and after maintaining the rally against Kosovo started three years ago.
Otherwise, in Belgrade, the serial trial of the accused is running in terms of the US Embassy case.
Seven accused of being charged that prior to the US Embassy facility, they have caused danger to people's lives and property.
They allegedly, following the rally before Serbia's Parliament, around 18:30 came organised to the American Embassy and struck it with stones, fireworks and other means, causing fire in which a Serb citizen had died.
The American Embassy, according to Serbian media, has not asked for compensation for this case, nor has the family of the person who was burned by fire at the embassy.
