Russia's ambassador to the United States, Sergei Kislijak, has left Washington after completing his nine-year service as the main Russian diplomat in the rival state on a global scale. Russia's embassy in Washington has announced that his departure is part of the planned reappointed of the 66-year-old diplomat.
Russian news agency Interfax, controlled by the state, has cited a source that has said that Mr. Kislijak's future movement may be to become a member of the Federation Council, which is the Russian Parliament's upper house. Russia's embassy in Washington, in its announcement, stressed that, Denis Goncar, deputy head of the mission, would serve as a charge d'afrog until the appointment of the new ambassador.
Sergei Kislijak was involved in allegations that Russia had intervened in last year's presidential elections in the United States.
