High risk of semi-torn homes and trash (Video)

The Roma community in Gjilan is at risk of abandoned houses that have been torn apart and filled with trash.

On the “Abdullah Preseva” Roma community's <x0th Street are being threatened by semi-torn houses filled with trash.

Bejt Ramadani, the representative of this community, says children are most at risk from waste, but also the possible collapse of homes.

At a meeting of the Municipal Community Security Council in Gjilan, held on 7 July, the company “was said to be on this road. Echo Hygiene” doesn't collect waste.

But Beart Ramadani said the trash does not meet only with those who do not pay the monthly amount of 5 euros on the issue.

Ramadani indicated that residents of the “Abdullah Presheva” have not officially applied for waste disposal, but indicated that Gjilan Mayor Lutfi Haziri has promised them the removal of the trash.

Ensar Kadriu, director for Protection and Rescue in the municipality of Gjilan, said 8 objects are seriously damaged and pose danger to residents of this road, while in his opinion fire crews have had to intervene several times.

But Beit Ramadani does not want waste laundering to be linked to the October 22nd local elections.

“Now there will be local elections and then they'll come with the pass for another vote not” concluded Ramadani.

According to 2011 census, 361 members of the Roma community live in the municipality of Gjilan.
