The clashes between police and protesters were very severe, leaving three people dead in the ranks of protesters, as well as more than 300 protesters arrested by Venezuelan police.
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said the strike was small and that its leaders would be arrested.
Since April, when opposition protests have massed, almost 100 people have died throughout the country.
Protesters blocked the streets of Caraca's capital of waste and furniture, a similar case noted that it happened in other cities as well. But in areas where the capital's pro-government forces dominated, life continued as usual, with open shops and roads that have dominated calm.
In some cities, police threw tear gas at protesters. In these clashes, it is reported that one and two others have been killed on the outskirts of Caracas, and that another two have found death in the northern town of Valencia, “reported. BBC”, report Periscope.
European states, such as France and Spain, and on the other hand, the US state has asked the Venezuelan government to cancel the vote for a new constituent assembly on July 30th.
But Maduro has rejected the calls.
“Work, love, life and hope have triumphed, those who have never worked, let them not continue to work, we are moving forward”, Maduro said.
Opposition politicians say Mr. Maduro wants to use the new assembly to strengthen himself in power, while the president argues a new constitution will promote dialogue about issues that have been polarised recently.
Meanwhile, Isaiah Medina, a senior diplomat representing Venezuela's seat in the UN, resigned, saying he could no longer represent the government because of human rights abuses.
But on the other hand, Venezuela's Ambassador to the UN, Rafael Ramirez, said Medina had acted “irreversibly” and was fired./Periscopi/
