The two-day summit of the European Union and Ukraine started in Kiev.
Ukrainian President Petro Porosenko opened the event, praising co-operation between the EU and his country.
On June 11th, exactly a month ago, Ukrainians experienced the true taste of European freedom ʹ visa-free travel to the EU”, said Porosenko.
“Mby 100,000 owners of Ukraine's biometric passports have already exploited the right to visa-free travel”, he said.
Poroshenko also expressed gratitude for EU support in his country's conflict with Russia.
Russia annexed the Ukrainian Crime Peninsula in 2014 and was later involved in a separatist conflict east of Ukraine.
European Council President Donald Tusk urged Ukrainians to remain united and avoid internal conflicts, while the president of the European Commission. Jean-Claude Juncker said Kiev should do more to fight corruption.
