U n NESTO gets two Albanian natural zones under protection

The Ahu forests at Runca are part of the Sibenik-Jablanica National Park, which has already become a tourist destination in southern Albania. While the protected “Gashi's river was included by Albanian authorities as the first-class Strategic Reserve, IUCN, in 1996, reports the Voice of America.
The area has an area of 3,000 ha and is located northeast of the Albanian Alps in the Kukes District, the Tropoja district, away from the residential centre. Renowned Albanian nature researchers and Protection Age Agencies in Kukes and Elbasan worked on the file of two Albanian natural zones that will now be protected by U NESTO.
According to Albanian researchers these areas currently represent the last of the virgin natural forests that remain in Albania. On U's World Riches List NESCO are included in Albania, the Ancient City of Butrint, the historic cities of Gjirokastra and Berat, which are protected in series, and Albanian Isopolophony has also been accepted in World Heritage.
Albania expected to hand over to U NESTO also the file for the appointment of the Albanian part of Lake Ohrid, as the Macedonian part of this lake, which has located two thirds of the area, has been part of the World Heritage since 1979.
