In the first six months of this year, six newborn children have been abandoned. These are statistics that have been given to Kosovo Radio officials from the Ministry of Labour and Social Management, as well as the Gynecological Clinic.
At the Gynecology Clinic in Pristina, they suggest that in the first six months of this year, six cases of abandoning newborn babies have been recorded in this clinic. The director of gynecology, Myrvette Pacharada, says abandoning children becomes more of the young girls whose children are related to outside marriage.
And the patient says I'm divorced, and I'm leaving this child. As she gives birth to the child, he separates from the mother and gives in to Nenatology, then we take care to stop milk or gender. Abandoning children is usually done when children are out of wedlock”, she said.
While the main sister in the Motherology Department, Lushe Jusuf, said that abandoned babies stay 21 days in the clinic, then the Social Work Center takes them to SOS Village or even to the sheltering families. There were six abandoned children in our clinic, three of them went to the family shelter and to the SOS Village of Children, while 3 still stay here. Then, after 21 days, children are transferred from social worker to housing centres”, Yusuf said.
Ariana Shala, leader of the Council Centre from the SOS Village, Pristina, said we have the largest number of children this year compared to last year. This year we have 13 babies sitting here. This year, two children who have gone to adoption have moved, while our young people are 21-22 when they go to independence. The SOS Children's Village offers 24-hour attention to all Kosovo children”, she said.
On this subject, Gynecology Director Myrvete Pacharada has advice for young girls.
A advice for young girls to avoid getting into a relationship without knowing people, let them work a little more with brains than with feelings, let them get used to contraception, that is, better to prevent than a child who comes into life and does not want a father or a mother, and leaves it to another family”, Pacharada said. And according to the Statistics Agency, a total of 41 children of different ages have been abandoned in Kosovo during 2016.
