Kurti comes with a special wish for US independence day

Named for prime minister by the Vetevendosje Movement, Albin Kurti has congratulated the American people on the day of independence.

Kurti, on Facebook, wrote that July 4th commemorates American independence from colonial and imperial rule, which he claimed was achieved through the struggle for the freedom and sacrifice of many people, led by former US President George Washington, writes Periscope.

Kurti has also added that Kosovo needs to deepen its partnership with the US.

Today is the day of the independence of the United States of America, so I wish to congratulate the American people on their national holiday.

On July 4th, the independence of Americans from colonial and imperial rule is commemorated, independence achieved through the war for freedom and sacrifice and the ideals of many leading George Washington.

The US independence changed global policy and was the key step of world history in two aspects, first in the anti-colonial battle, where the empire opposed independence, second in the battle for democracy, where the monarchy opposed the republic.

As such, US independence has served as inspiration for anti-colonial and republican movements worldwide.

With President Wilson articulating the doctrine of self - determination of peoples, at the beginning of the 20th century, the US decided to universally extend the values of independence and democracy. It was Wilson who made it clear that the US would not recognise secret treaties, with which powerful states tore small peoples apart, thus saving Albania's existence.

And on the same principle, President Clinton and then the new President Bush helped the battle for the liberation and independence of Albanians in Kosovo.

On this day, stating the need for expanding and deepening the Kosovo partner and Albanians with the United States, we affirm our devotion to the values of independence, republicanism, democracy and the right to self-rule for our people and all other peoples.
