People can see the copy at a Koran exhibition set up near the Holy Prophet's Mosque ( Al-MEsage el-Nabavi, according to the al-Fajer website.
Hamza Abdul Kerim, an exhibition official, said the copy was made by an Afghan national named Culam Mujiddin about 200 years ago.
Being one of the largest copies of Kur '%an, it was sent to Medina from Afghanistan from four camels at the time, he said.
He pointed out that the Curén copy weighs more than 154 pounds [154 kg] and has an inch [150 cm] in length and an inch [100 cm] in width.
According to Abdul Kerim, several other rare exhibitions of Kuréan, including skin manuscripts, have been featured at the exhibition.
The exhibit has 12 pavilions in which, too, the translations of Kurʹan are exposed in different languages, he added.
