Nikolic is the second person of 11 indictees charged with crimes committed in the village of Sik in Kosovo, who died during the trial, so court proceedings against him will be suspended. A long time ago, the other accused by the same paramilitary group, Radoslav Brnoviić, has died.
The “Cacalls” accused of repeated trial procedure, as the first trial was abolished, while Nikolic had been sentenced to the maximum sentence of 20 years in prison for crimes in the village of Sik.
He was arrested in 2010 in Montenegro, then extradited to Serbia, and later protected in freedom.
His defence lawyer has said Serbs charged with war crimes are suffering symptoms during the trial process in both Belgrade and The Hague.
