Kosovars eyes to Bitcoin, about 800 thousand euros in investment

Electronic coins are one of the most current topics in the IPT world in Kosovo. It's Bitcoin, the one who's waking up the biggest interest in the country. The fact that even in Kosovo, as in many countries, is being invested in equipment producing bitumen, speaks the figures owned by Kosovo Customs. As for citizens, it is said that large companies operating in Kosovo have invested in bitumen.

Kosovo Customs spokesperson Adriatic Stavileci said that only during the first six months, equipment worth 800 thousand euros has been imported to Kosovo.

According to him, graphic cards cost more and, as he said, so far are about 4 thousand and 300 graphic cards listed over this period.

And according to our statistics, in 2017, we had about 800 thousand euros of import of equipment that went into producing or assembly of these Bitcoin devices. In fact, if we take that as a correct number, there were about 4 thousand and 300 pieces of graphic cards of this type, or advanced cards. Not necessarily each one of them is used for them, but customs still has a kind of manual that conducts the import of these devices so that in any case we have precise evidence”, Stavileci said.

Furthermore, he said that the equipment used for producing digital coins, which are once imported to Kosovo, Dogan treats like all other parts of the computer.

“Dogana treats these products as all parts of the computer, except for a graphical cartel that is far more advanced and more expensive than other cards. And that's why we've been tracking these devices all the time. Largely used is the graphic card ésefaʹ, which is very strong and expensive, mainly the import of these devices is done through airport”, Stavileci told Kosovas.

As for the fact that some of the establishments that sell such equipment used for digital currencies, Stavileci said the issue in question is the competence of other internal organs, because, he said, the border part is all identified by Customs in Kosovo.

For this, Kosovo Police have announced that there have been no criminal cases in Kosovo so far, nor incidents related to the issue.

Meanwhile, it is the Central Bank of Kosovo, which through a communique has suggested that using digital coins poses a danger that could result in financial losses.

The use of virtual money, such as Bitcoin, is not legally regulated and poses a risk that could result in financial losses. All potential users of virtual money are reported that there are no institutions in the Republic of Kosovo guaranteeing the reimbursement of lost money”, the CEC report said.

Even commercial banks, such as Teb Bank and Raiffeisen Bank, have been declared via telephone to Kosovas that they do not operate with such digital coins.

Ilirjana Tahiraj from Raiffeisen Bank said they do not accept bank transfers with bitumen.

We've had similar questions before. We as a bank do not carry bank transfers with bitcoin and other digital coins”, she said.

However, the trend of increasing citizens' interest in bitcon has no stop. The technology entrepreneur, Day Gashi, who said that out of great interest in bitcon, it has become difficult to find graphic cards in the Kosovo market. While it said there is a degree of uncertainty as to investment in bitumen, since the value of this currency can vary from moment to moment.

Kosovo's “in Kosovo has grown a lot of interest, recently, especially for ʹminingʹ, because the current here is pretty cheap compared to the world, and many people have started producing ethereum, and so is Bitcoin, as it does the process called unjustly. This is the first phase people are interested in. Interest is so great that it is hard to find graphic shopping folders in Kosovo. Part two is trading. People are buying and selling with ethereum, bitumen and others. These two have increased exponentially in recent months, and it seems there will still be an increase of interest”, he told Kosovas.

As far as digital currency legalisation is concerned, he said it would be better for them to remain distorted for a while.

We have “in Kosovo and Europe disarrayed, meaning that no legislation is caught. I personally think this is the best approach because it is not yet known what will happen to him, and governments cannot understand what their role is in the range of the railway”, he said, adding that governments have left open the opportunity to see what more they can fix for the future.

Otherwise, the United States, Germany, and many other world governments accept the use of digital money, although some officials have called for more surveillance. And in Estonia, technology is being used in health, banking, and government.

Since the beginning of its use in 2009, the value of Bitcoin has changed from several tens of dollars to over a thousand dollars.
