Former Prime Minister Hashim Thaci's initiative to open public universities in every Kosovo city is emerging to be unsuccessful. Kosovo's Accreditation Agency has suspended many programmes of these universities.
With former Prime Minister Hashim Thaci's decision, the country's main municipalities had turned into <x0 university cities”.
In this case, Pec University was founded “Haxhi Zeka”, in Gjilan “Kadri Zeka”, in Prizren “Uqin Hoti”.
The university has also opened in Mitrovica, in Gjakova, in Ferizaj.
But, a few years after establishing these universities are facing suspension of academic programmes by the Kosovo Agency for Accreditation (AKA) in the absence of academic staff, writes the newspaper “Zeri”.
The Ferizaj University programme Industrial Management has been suspended. At the University of Gjilan “Kadri Zeka” also suspended three programmes: Computer science, pre-school, as well as Program Begin.
Seven programs have been suspended at Peja University “Accountability and finance, Agro-Eccology and Agro-Mjedis, business management at charity and master, Jurydico-Penal, Regia-Filmi and TV, General Jurydical.
At Prizren University “Two programs have been suspended: Agrobusinesses as well as Cultural Heritage and Tourism Management programme.
