The Ministry of Education will no longer distribute free textbooks from sixth to ninth grade, but only from first to fifth grade.
According to Ministry officials, this decision has been made after many texts have been collected, which can be used after use. Also, it was said that the distribution of free texts has cost the Government of Kosovo as much as 7m euros annually.
The distribution of free texts from first to ninth grade has cost a lot, say education ministry officials. To save the budget and use the collected books, which can be reused, the decision has been made not to distribute books from sixth to ninth.
The task of director for the Development of Pre-university Education at the Ministry of Education, Mustafe Kadriu, told Radio Kosovo that the commission formed on this issue has found that textbooks from the sixth to ninth grade could be used another year from the preliminary generations. Also, this is an opportunity to save Kosovo's budget, Kadriu said.
The first <x0) reason is that the state of Kosovo can save where it can save, because the text can be used, the other reason is to create a culture of textbooks, a working culture. Some 4m euros per year are available to save or use for other forms. ”
Kadriu announced that about 7m euros were spent annually on the distribution of books for free, while this year will be spent 3m and 600 thousand euros on books from first grade to fifth. He added that publishing houses already know in advance how many books will produce for this year.
We have said that if within a municipality school there is not enough text we can go to another school that has. Based on the tests we've done in the number of students, we've seen that each generation has fewer students than the previous generations. The administrative direction correctly stipulates that the class's guardian, parent and student are responsible for returning the texts. ”
Kadriu said that books can also be filled out of stocks created in the early years, which are exploitable. He announced that it is scheduled for 2018/2019, new first-grade, sixth and ten textbooks will be released, so linearly filled in with new ones using low-cost old ones.
