Strong rains today have caused floods in parts of northern Germany that some residents have had to evacuate, while some have placed sandbags in front of their homes.
The centre of the city of Goslar, in the mountainous region Harz in western Berlin, has closed while the hotel and the elderly centre has been evacuated after the central square has been flooded, reports the Associated Press.
