This minister said women had been identified as officials from Germany's Embassy in Baghdad had visited the northern town of Mosul, where women suspected of being detained.
Iraqi security forces have said they have arrested 20 foreign fighters, having freed Mosul from the occupation of the Islamic State militants this month.
Four Germans have already been identified in this group.
German officials have already confirmed that a 16-year-old, identified as Linda W., and another female, were among the suspected warriors who were occupied by Iraqi forces.
German prosecutors said yesterday they are interviewing the girl Linda W., suspected to be a member of the terrorist foreign organisation.
Having left home shortly after converting to Muslim religion, a year earlier, Linda W. has expressed regret over her decision and now only wants “to return home to her family”, German media reported. / REL
