Croatian minister's “ballist hand”

Following the Dubrovnik Court's first-degree decision on the extradition of Ismail Morina to Belgrade, Serbian media further deepen the issue over further steps to be taken by Croatian judicial authorities. In an interview for the newspaper “Vecernje Novosti”, the judge who made the decision at the expense of the Albanian fan, Pero Miloglav, hints that this decision will probably be rejected in other higher instances. He initially stresses that he made the decision on the basis of documents he had on his desk, but adds that the issue already passes to the Zagreb Supreme Court, which will also issue the final decision. He adds that the chances of the Supreme Court dismissing extradition are great.

However, even if this body confirms the sentence, expectations for Ismail Morina will not be erased, because it is Croatian Justice Minister Drago Bosnjak who will say the final word on whether Morina is extradited, or not to Serbia.

The Serbian Justice Ministry has requested Morina's transfer to Belgrade shortly after he was banned by Croatian authorities. Currently, the Serbian Supreme Court has launched a process against him on the issue of driving in Serbia-Albania's preliminary match three years ago, and according to the media, it risks about three years' removal of freedom.

However, lobby and construction of diplomatic channels between Tirana and Zagreb on this issue could facilitate Morina's position, as the final decision, as Dubrovnik's first-degree judge, suggests, belongs to just one member of the Croatian executive, Justice Minister Drago Bosnjak.
