The Russian state-funded international television network Russia Today has said one of its correspondents has been killed by the missiles of Islamic State militants in Syria.
According to this network, Khaled Alkhateb, 25, was killed while reporting on Syrian Army operations against Islamic State militants in the province of Homs.
“Russia Today laments the loss of our correspondent”, this network said in an Arabic statement.
It is said that Alkhateb has begun late work on the Arabic channel of Russia Today.
The Russian Army is backing Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's forces in the six-year fight against rebel groups and Islamic State militants.
Moscow and the seals supported by the United States fight in opposite directions in the Syrian war, though the two sides fight the Islamic State.
