China demanded that the United States and South Korea stop military maneuvers in the Korean Peninsula in exchange for suspending North Korean nuclear and ballistic missile programmes, the Chinese ambassador to the UN announced today.
Ambassador Liu Jiey also warned that if tensions in the region continue to escalate, the situation could get out of control and have catastrophic consequences. Liu hopes to win the UN Security Council's support for a “Paku solution”, to ease tensions in the Korean Peninsula.
“Packeta includes suspension of nuclear and ballistic testing in part of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea The DRC (Northern Korea) and the ban on military exercises by the United States of America and the Republic of Korea”, Liu said. In a telephone conversation this morning, Chinese President Xi Jinping told US President Donald Trump that US-Kin relations were affected by negative factors, following the establishment of new Trump sanctions against the Dandong Bank in China, suspected of its links to North Korea.
