After three mandates at the helm of Vushtrri, Bajram Mulaku has decided not to run even for a mandate from the Democratic Party of Kosovo for mayor of the Vushtrri municipality, for local elections to be held on October 22nd.
And this decision, Mulaku says, has been made for many reasons, where there is the next concession for someone else.
In an interview for KosovoPress, Vushtrri's first one said he believes a much better mayor will come than the one in the Vushtrri municipality management.
“Arsyet is many, really, the mayor's work is not very challenging, but it's a third term now that it's ending for me, which means it's going to be 10 years as mayor of the municipality is also a matter of age. But there's also my personal perception that if a mayor works 10 years is probably the turn to let others work differently, to act differently, people maybe even younger, with more full energy, more than perhaps is the interest of all the citizens who come to someone who will otherwise work. I very much hope that a much better mayor is coming than I am with the municipality”, he said.
The town of Vushtrria since the post-war has been bastion of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, where in all the elections that have been held the winner has been this party. But in early elections held on June 11th 2017, the second Democratic Party of Kosovo emerged with 35.45 per cent of the vote, while the first came up the Vetevendosje Movement with 35,98 per cent of the vote.
Mayor Mukaku, says the absolute part of Vushtrri citizens respect the work that has been done during these Democratic Party of Kosovo mandates, but that all citizens can never be satisfied.
All citizens can never enjoy the work of a mayor to do whatever he wants, always someone who has an interest in accomplishing or has interest groups to achieve different interests. But I think the absolute part of citizens respect the work that has been done within 10 years, it hasn't been 10 years yet, but it's already going to be 10 years, that many projects have been accomplished in the interest of citizens. I can say that Vushtrria has been to say a medieval city everywhere has had no infrastructure, no access to drinking water, no sufficient space for schools, no adequate space for health even cultural heritage objects have been in very serious condition, and much work has had to be done for the realisation of many projects affecting all these areas. I believe citizens see these” projects, he said.
As for the decision not to be a candidate for the mayor of Vushtrri, Mulaku says he has also announced PDK chairman Kadri Veseli, but does not know whether he has agreed with his decision.
“I don't know if they're hired, but that's my attitude and it's a personal attitude that can't be cured”, he said.
Local elections for mayor of municipalities will be held on October 22nd 2017, while it is still not known who will be the candidate for mayor of the municipality of Vushtrri from the Democratic Party of Kosovo, following incumbent Prime Minister Bajram Mukaku's decision not to run another term.
