The planned move follows the death of American student Otto Warmbier, who was sentenced to 15 years of forced labor after being arrested during a visit to North Korea.
Warmbier fell into a coma and passed away just after he returned to the U.S. US officials confirmed for “Associated Press” that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has decided to implement geographical travel restrictions for North Korea, something that makes illegal the use of the American passport to enter this country. Restriction takes effect 30 days after it is published in the federal registry, but it is not clear when that will happen.
Travel companies “Couros Tours” and “Yung Pioneer Tour “said they have been notified of this development and that the US will make its decision public on July 27th. If that is true, since 27 August, no American will be able to travel to North Korea and there is no information about how long the blockades will last.
