Astrit Dehar psychiatric examination required

Lawyer Florie Drevija requested psychiatric examination of Adonis Gashi, the accused in the process of killing Sergeant Shemsi Gashi.

In the trial of eight people in connection with the murder of Sergeant Shemsy Gashi, lawyer Florie Drevija requested psychiatric examination of her defender Adonis Gashi.

Drawning the examination was requested because he said Adonis Gashi has been traumatised after being in the same room as Astrit Deharin and Naser Makolin at the Pre-burging Centre in Prizren.

Astrit Dehari died at this centre in November last year, while Naser Makolli died in April of this year.

For Deharin, former Vetevendosje activist, the report of the Institute of Legal Medicine found that he had committed suicide, while for Makcol it was said that death occurred by health problems.

“The psychological and spiritual state of my defender from what he has experienced during his stay at the Prizren Prosecution Centre [is heavy] after allegedly two persons with whom he shared the room died under suspicious circumstances. He's seen blood and the man with the bottle in his throat”, Drawny said.

She further indicated that Gashi was afraid when he visited him in his detention room.

I've gone to Prizren to visit my defense Adonis, who's been in serious psychic condition, scared and had three days and three nights that haven't been fed at all, because he's afraid of what happened to his two roommates”, Drevija said.

Drevija indicated she had applied for psychiatric examination of her defense, but said she has not received answers from the court.

“I have submitted to the court my request to give the order for Adonis' psychiatric examination, which has been accepted, but I have not yet received an answer “, Drevija said, demanding that this order be issued as soon as possible.

Adonis Gashi also said in court that he was unable to continue staying in the courtroom.

But lawyer Dreva's request was temporarily rejected by the court.

The request is denied for now and the court ex officio will require the doctor's opinion from the detention center because in all the paperwork in possession there is no indication that his condition does not allow participation or trial on this case“, the court said.

Then lawyer Drovija objected to the session's continuation.

I'm not even able to go on defending myself and risk my own protection because his mental state is serious. I demand that the hearing be interrupted until the health report is provided to protect me, Adonis Gashi“, the lawyer Drevija said.

Following the lawyer's words, the session was postponed indefinitely until Adonis Gashi's psychiatric examination report is secured.
