One of the parties, the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, though committed to making numbers for forming the Government of Kosovo, are not putting aside the commitment to better local elections either.
AAK Organising Secretary Ali Berisha expressed satisfaction with the local election process within the AAK. According to him, although they have not yet formalised all candidates for mayors, the party's expectations are high.
According to Berisha, The AAK has marked increases in parliamentary elections, so this increase will continue even in local elections.
“You know that in the central elections the Alliance has marked increases in the vote. Our expectations for local elections are high in local elections. We are in the process of appointing candidates for mayors. It is a process going well in the Alliance, and we believe that especially those municipalities we have had in municipal governance led by the AAK will be recovered in these elections”, Berisha said.
Asked by Indexline whether there are possibilities for pre-election coalitions even in local elections, as those parliamentary ones came together PDK-AAK-NISMA, Berisha said they are still under discussion with AAK branches throughout Kosovo.
The “as far as the eventual coalitions are concerned, we are in internal discussions with our branches and the sides of Kosovo, and depending on their interest and depending on what we claim in certain municipalities we will make the decision at the right time“, Berisha added.
Although the candidates' names have not yet been formalised by the AAK, it was Daut Haradinaj from this party that some of the names to run in municipalities have made public.
Among them are Bali Muarremaj for Suharemaj, Daut Haradinaj for Deqan, Smaj Latifi for Rahovec, Ardian Gjini for Gjakova, Zenun Elezaj for Cline, Hajrush Kurtaj for Kacanik, Fatmir Gashi for Peja and Rexhep Kadriu for Gjilan.
Final candidates, according to Berisha, are expected to be formalised by August 10th.
