So writes German magazine Der Spiegel, at the beginning of the Kosovo play of an article dedicated to the Balkans.
In the 1990s, Thaci was one of the founders of the Kosovo Liberation Army, while since 2016 he is president of Kosovo. And now, while he has the privilege of giving his former associate, Ramush Haradinaj, the task of forming a government, he faces possible war crimes charges from a special balloon at The Hague”, writes Der Spiegel, broadcasts the newspaper Express.
Kosovo's “president is determined to demonstrate that today's Thaci has nothing in common with the man who, as a German intelligence report estimates, controls “a criminal network operating throughout Kosovo”, says in the German magazine's writing.
For many people, he's a hero, for others, possible war criminal. How does he view this polarization around him? Thaci pauses when asked about it in his office. Then he says: First, I was supreme political commander, not military commander. Second, no special tribune in the world can rewrite history. We have nothing to hide”, writes Der Spiegel.
