New York prosecutors accuse Shkreline of lying to investors in the trust fund and of extracting millions of dollars of assets from biofarmacetic company “Retrofin” to repay them, reports “BBC”
The document denies the charges, but if convicted, it faces 20 years in prison.
The 34-year-old occupied titles of all world newspapers in 2015, when his firm increased the drug price “Draprim” to $750 for a pill, from $13.50, writes the eye.net. At the time, he was chief executive of “Touring pharmaceuticals”. The charges that led to his arrest in December 2015 are not linked to “Tourism”, but it focuses on the direction of “Retrofin” and trust fund “M SMB Capital Management” between 2009-2012.
Corcar is accused of using a pyramid scheme where Retrofin tools are used to pay off “debts M SMB Capital Management” after the fund lost millions of dollars.
Porcurors claim he deceived investors and that he has won a total of $11m.
