The removal of the Alliance for Albanians from the Government of Macedonia has narrowed the numbers of the parliamentary majority, which now has 61 deputies from 120 to the count of the Parliament, as long as it should for the government vote.
The parliamentary majority, with the removal of two Alliance deputies, had remained with 60 deputies, but a Macedonian opposition MP has passed in its ranks, increasing the number to 61.
Although not part of the majority, the government expects the support of even a Roma minority deputy and both deputies of the Albanian Democratic Party (PDSH), which is said to be part of the government.
Prime Minister Zoran Zaev does not feel as concerned with reducing the number of parliamentary majority deputies. He has said the government, even when it was formed, had a narrow number of votes. Zaev has indicated that if he loses the majority, the elections will be inevitable, even though he does not believe it will come to this.
We also had a narrow growth during the government's formation. The majority even now behaves between 61 and 65 MPs, depending on their definition, from the points of the agenda. I'm not too charged with this case until there are too many, there will be Government. When there will be no majority, then parties will regroup for the creation of a new majority, but if it is not formed, the elections will go away. As leader of the Government and the largest party, in 2018 I do not plan to have elections, as much work is expected this year to raise citizens' standards and realize their expectations”, Prime Minister Zaev has declared.
Political officials say that despite the declining numbers of the majority, the elections will not, not because of numbers, but because of the insistence of international factors, which require meeting reforms and unblocking the Euro-integration process. Vdalmir Bozinovski from the Institute for Political Investigations says the elections may have, but not in 2018.
“As if 61 MPs are needed for the government vote, there is enough to distribute the Assembly unless the government decides to resign itself. Even so, agreements are needed between coalition partners”, Bozinovski says, stressing that the Government expects great work, in particular in implementing reforms in the judiciary and approaching positions or even final resolution of the dispute with Greece on the name issue.
From the Alliance for Albanians say that despite having left the government, they will support reforms that are of interest to citizens, while they reiterate that one of the causes of departure is also disagreement with the elements of the past government in the current Government, alluding to the Democratic Union for Integration (BDI).
A part of the past regime has remained within the government. Of course, on the basis of that, we have dilemmas, especially as far as the Albanian part is concerned, Albanian ethnography, but we hope the Government will be that way promised, that it will be reformable. The Alliance for Albanians with its deputies in the Assembly will support all reform processes, we will support all laws that their composition have reform elements”, Elmi Ashir, deputy chairman of the Alliance for Albanians, has declared.
