The VV MP writes to the RTK board: Measured Against Director Mentor Shala

Vetevendosje Movement MP has been addressed with a letter to the board of Kosovo Radio Television (RTK), which is urged to take action against General Director Mentor Shala.

Director Mentor Shala yesterday in a post in his Facebook account makes Vetevendosje movement guilty of manipulation of the election process in Prizren.

The honoured “chairmanship of the board of Kosovo Radio Television, honoured members. Kosovo Radio Television is the public institution, which for the mission has fair and impartial public information. Unfortunately, there is a long time that this institution is not fulfilling its mission, rather it has become a propagandist and extremely unprofessional disinformation and misorientizes the public through information that is offered to”, writes Pantina on its Facebook profile.

According to her, Kosovo Radio Television General Director Mentor Shala, in his profile of the social facebook network, slanders and accuses a political subject allegedly for election manipulation.

According to Pantina, this is not only a violation of any moral or journalistic ethics but also a criminal offense. Shala will answer to justice.

I'm asking you as the highest governing body of this public institution to take all disciplinary and legal measures that are constitutional to Mr. Shala. In the past we are informed that measures have been taken against RTK workers even for expressing their Facebook opinions, which have not gone well with General Director”, writes Pantina.

Another fact that testifies to the total lack of professionalism or intentional disinformation of the public, according to Pantina is also the chronice for reporting on the dismissal of RTK board member Mimoza Hasani Plana.

“In the paragraph given in RTK's central news on November 30th 2017, neither does the Commission's official stand for Public Administration, Local Governance, nor Media nor any of the MPs' statements concerning the case include, but is interviewed by a lawyer who charges the Parliament of illegal decision”, writes Pantina.

According to her, such behaviour of the RTK Director and management and such a non-professional and partial reflection of events especially political ones occur almost every day, and this has seriously damaged RTK's image and reduced its credibility on public television.

So I want to remind you that the Board RTK is the highest and responsible body to take care of the institution's legality and it is up to you to take appropriate measures to stop the further degradation of this institution, which is taking place every day. I look forward to hearing from you about the measures taken regarding the two aforementioned cases, but other steps to restore the positive image and boost confidence on Kosovo Radio 48x1>, writes Albanian Pantina, who is also deputy chairman of the Public Administration Commission, Local Government and Media in the Kosovo Assembly.
