Vitita Gjilan seeks central-level intervention on the Morava River

Municipal authorities of Gjilan and Viti have sought from the central level to deal with the cleaning of the Morava River bed.

Naser Korca, director of Public Services, has said that this request is based on the fact that this river does not go through just Gjilan, writes today “Koha Ditore”.

“Morva passes through many cities and carries various wastes. We have a project to clean up rivers and streams, but we still haven't tied the contract, because the subject is complaining and until this subject is solved we can't do anything. As soon as the contract is signed, we will start with the clearing of rivers”, he said.

According to him, with the river's bed fixing, the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning should be undertaken, but such, according to him, did not happen.

Nexmedin Jakupi, director of Public Services in the municipality of the Year, claims that they have cleared the river “Moreva”, but, according to him, the river pollution problem from waste is current. He says the municipality has no budgetary means to implement projects that would prevent waste from flowing in the river.
