According to presidential sources, Erdoğan has continued phone conversations to discuss developments regarding Jerusalem, while telephone conversations with leaders from Malaysia, Tunisia and Iran have been held today.
During the talks, President Erdoğan has stressed that the attempt to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel will cause a break in the Middle East peace process, adding that the condition for peace and stability in the region is to materialise a Palestinian state with the borders of 1997 and with the capital East Jerusalem.
Erdoğan has recalled that Israel's decision to annex Jerusalem in 1980 had been rejected by the international community and the United Nations.
He has stressed that Jerusalem as a holy city for Muslims is a highly sensitive issue for Islamic states.
In phone conversations it has been said that any attempts to change Jerusalem's status will be met with response from the Islamic world and that such efforts would negatively affect peace and stability.
Turkey's president has also stressed that Turkey, as the rotating chairman of the Organisation for Islamic Co-operation, will host the Eastern Islamic Summit in Istanbul on 13 December.
