In a statement to Kosovo Radio Television, Haradinaj said that in March of next year, Kosovo citizens will be able to move freely to the Schengen area. “RTK” announced that Haradinaj will discuss these issues with EU representatives during a visit to Brussels on December 18th.
This is the first time some of the Kosovo institutions' leaders have spoken of deadlines for achieving the process of liberalisation and formation of the Kosovo Armed Forces, reports “b92”, Periscopi broadcasts.
As a precondition for visa liberalisation, the European Union has defined demarcation of the border line with Montenegro and the fight against corruption and organised crime.
The international community and NATO believe that transforming the Security Forces into the Armed Forces is a political issue that is under the jurisdiction of Kosovo institutions, but also needs to precede changes in the Constitutions and the consent of other communities in order to preserve the multinational composition of these forces.
