Lavrov also dismissed US calls to cut ties with Phenjan, following the latest test by ballistic missiles.
Tensions on the Korean Peninsula have increased after the North, November 29th, said it has successfully tested an interc mount ballistic missile, which, according to him, could hit anywhere on US territory.
Washington has called on countries to cut ties with Phenjan and has warned the northeastern regime that “will be completely destroyed” if war breaks out.
Moscow has condemned the Phenjan missile test, but Lavrov said the US is trying to provoke the northeastern leader, Kim Jong Un, to undertake the new <x0-> extreme operations”.
Lavrov also said the US and South Korea should not hold joint military exercises, scheduled for December.
If they want to find excuses to destroy North Korea, let them say”, Lavrov said.
He made comments after US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said Washington doesn't want war with North Korea, but warned that her regime would be destroyed, “if it continues with acts of aggression leading to war”.
