In Russia, the presidential election campaign was officially launched three months before the March 18th vote. Ella Pamfilova, from the Central Election Commission, says she wants to ensure a fair process.
Candidates who want to participate must register within 20 days. Independent candidates need 300,000 signatures, while those supported by a 100,000 signature party, CRI reports.
President Vladimir Putin announced last week that he would seek a new presidential mandate.
