The political spectrum, in power and opposition, is increasing the mood for ratification of the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro, Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has declared. These comments, Thaci made during a media conference.

Meanwhile, the failure to ratify this international agreement within the next forty days, according to Thaci, would cost Kosovo “a very high price”.

He said he is currently engaged together with Parliament Speaker Kadri Veselin and Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj so that the demarcation is ratified in the Assembly.

The options and moods are for the demarcation to pass”, Thaci said.

According to him, a widespread mood is being seen to stop blaming and accusing political parties and the country to move forward with the issue, which is holding visa liberalisation for Kosovo citizens hostage.

On February 7th, President Thaci stressed, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker will present the strategy for the Balkans and the enlargement of the European Union in this part of Europe, so he invited the political spectrum to be responsible and prepared by that time to carry out his obligations.

Thaci said that if Kosovo does not help itself, it cannot be expected that others will take care of its future.

Meanwhile, as for dialogue with Serbia, President Thaci said dialogue has no alternative, but not a dialogue that does not have an end to purpose. As a result of this dialogue, Thaci said the situation in northern Kosovo has changed, to customs in the north, where Kosovo borders on Serbia and other parts of the country.

However, dialogue must now come to the final phase of reconciliation and mutual recognition between the two countries, or conclude with agreement to recognise Kosovo's right to membership in the United Nations Organisation”, Thaci said.

Such an agreement, he underlined, is necessary in order to avoid any possibility that in the event of Kosovo's application for UN membership, any state will use veto rights.

Thaci has ruled out the possibility that all international acts as in the past will again be included in the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia. He said that decisions for her future, Kosovo takes them on its own, while facilitating dialogue makes the European Union, with the help and undeniable role of the United States of America.

Thaci has spoken and about the Special Court for War Crimes, which is expected to begin cases against former Kosovo Liberation Army members under war crimes allegations. The president reiterated that this is an injustice that has been done to Kosovo, while adopting its establishment, he described Kosovo's partnership with its international friends as a result.

“I am not the mastermind of the establishment of the Special Court, because the mastermind of its establishment was Senator Dick Marty”'s report, Thaci said, clarifying his position in supporting this court at the time of the establishment.

Again, Thaci has expressed his belief that in a distant future, Kosovo in partnership with NATO will also establish its army.

On Friday, President Thaci is expected to address the annual address to the Kosovo Assembly. Education before the Parliament is a constitutional obligation for the president of Kosovo.
