Here's how much lunch it costs to Kadri Wessel's cabinet

In the Parliament Speaker's cabinet alone, Kadri Wessel, they have spent 170 euros every day only lunch. That is how it has been made known during the review of the Kosovo Assembly's nine-month budget and finance report in 2017.

Also considered are the costs for travel tickets and fuel.

Commission Chairman for Buxhet and Finance Lumir Abdixhiku has called for a reduction in the expenses of the day and lunch.

He has added that there are some expenditures that could have been spared more on the issue of lunches, labours and trips abroad, especially not by MPs as much as administrative staff, because according to Abdixhik, 90 per cent of these trips are in Albania, Montenegro and Macedonia. So he has asked these meetings to be reduced and held in Kosovo.

“Cabinetti eats 170 euros a day of lunch and this is an average salary of a Kosovar that the cabinet consumes for lunch. I had begged them that after a savings program, but it's not your fault, because this topic is now in session and we're looking for a government savings program. Because if we start saving from lunches and official trips to all institutions, I believe we had made enough funds on the subject of other treatments”, Abdixhiku said.

Even Enver Hoti, a member of the Initiative for Kosovo, has said it is disturbing not to achieve capital investments on the part of the assembly, as well as an increase in travel ticket spending, even though according to him, the assembly has been inactive in this period.

It's interesting on these travel tickets. There's an increase in this nine months, when it's known that the assembly has little active for 2017. Also, car fuels have an increase in this period of time compared with 2016. Perhaps the campaign, but as the assembly officially did not work in this period. It's very disturbing not to make capital investments”, Hoti said.

These concerns about increased spending have been responded to by Parliament Secretary Ismet Krasniqi, who has said that any spending is billed and covered by decision, but has said that there is no authority to prevent spending.

Any spending that is billed is set to a decision. So we as administration are correct. We can stop them. No”, Secretary Krasniqi has responded.

After the MP's insistence, he has argued the expenses for tickets and fuel, saying that on February 17th, Kosovo Independence Day, all guests have paid tickets, including guests from Japan and from designated world countries.

All those senior decision-making people paid tickets to them, and that's an increase of the sum that has been done exclusively with guests invited for February 17th at assembly spending. As far as car derivatives are concerned, we have a report on all cars that they spent on. We have identified what it has spent, beginning with the mayor of the assembly, the members of the leadership, the councillors of the chairman and the administration. So every trip is covered with a witness accompanying”, Krasniqi said.

The majority vote commission has approved the spending report for the Parliament.

Also, the Board and Finance Commission today has reviewed the bill for amendments to the bill for The AKP, which Deputy Finance Minister Fatmir Gashi has presented, which has said that the goal of change is the possibility of accessing the AKP fund so the means can be carried to the Kosovo budget. He has said it is 370m euros.

This Commission Chairman Lumir Abdixhiku has said privatisation money should be destined for capital investments rather than economic development.

The Commission has also reviewed the financial report of the Regulatory Authority of Electronic Communications, of which the report has reported its Board chairman Kressnik Gashi.

Gashi has responded to MPs for the telephone code, which, he said, would start using the only code 383 from June 2018 on the entire territory of Kosovo, without the code 377 and 381.
