That is how world leaders responded to Trump's announcement.
Michel Aoun, president of Lebanon, said the US decision threatens the peace process and stability in the Middle East and beyond.
Lebanon's Prime Minister Saad Hariri said “expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people, Lebanon declares Palestinian right to establish an independent state whose capital is Jerusalem”.
Meanwhile, Jordan views the verdict as illegal because “consolids Israeli occupation” of eastern Jerusalem, reports “Al Jazeera”, the Periscope broadcast. The “The decision, which prevents the outcome of negotiations on final status, provoked anger and sparked the conflict of Muslims and Christians all over the Arab and Muslim world”, the Jordanian government spokesman Mohammad al-Moman said in a statement.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Qatar Foreign Minister, said Trump's decision was a “death penalty” for all those seeking peace and “a dangerous escalation”.
The status of Jerusalem is one of the most controversial issues in the conflict, and historically has been placed in negotiations on final status.
Saudi Arabia said the move was a <x0-constradition with unchanged international resolutions highlighting the rights of the Palestinian people in Jerusalem”, in a statement issued by the country's Foreign Ministry.
Egypt condemned the decision by saying these <x0-steps unilaterally against international agreements will not change the legal status of Jerusalem as it is under invasion”.
Kuwait's Foreign Affairs Ministry expressed a deep “regret after Trump's announcement. The move prompted UN resolutions for “the preservation of the political, historical, legal and humanitarian status status in Jerusalem”, Kuwait's Kuna” news agency said./Periscopi/
