The FBI has refused to make comments.
Republicans at the congress have accused McCaben of leaning against Trump.
Republican Chuck Grasley, chairman of the Justice Committee in the United States Senate, told reporters earlier this week that he would like to see McCabe outside the FBI, writes relief.
McCabe served as director of the FBI agency's duty after Trump fired former FBI Director James Comey in May.
The Washington Post newspaper reported that McCabe plans to retire after early March of next year, when he meets the conditions for full retirement.
